Scope of Practice (ScOP) Designation

Treatment Goals

To reduce bacterial load within the wound bed while maintaining a moist wound environment to support granulation tissue formation. Negative pressure wound therapy was not utilised due to patient intolerance.

Additional goals:

1. Debride flaking peri-wound skin and apply white soft paraffin to maintain skin integrity and reduce dryness.
2. Arrange podiatry review of the great toenail to prevent secondary wound formation, with consideration for ongoing wound care and dressing as required.

Aim of Dressing

To reduce wound bed bioburden and prevent biofilm development, while supporting a moist wound healing environment.

Step 1

Wash patient's legs thoroughly

Ensure comprehensive cleansing of the patient’s lower limbs in the shower.

Prepare sterile field

Prepare the sterile dressing pack and aseptically unpack sterile products onto the field.

Clean the wound bed

If tolerated, use loosely woven gauze to gently cleanse the wound bed and reduce any accumulated bioburden since the previous dressing.

Apply Urgo Clean Ag

Shape UrgoClean Ag to the wound and apply with the sticky side down onto the wound bed.

Step 5

Apply biatain non adhesive and secure

Place Biatain Non-Adhesive over the wound and fix in place using Hypafix.
