To support primary closure by stabilising the suture line and managing moisture in a partially open crush injury.

Aim of Dressing

To facilitate epithelialisation of the open crushed area while utilising a low-profile dressing to enable mobilisation with suitable footwear.

Single crush injury to right foot

Step 1

Setup sterile field

Prepare a sterile field and arrange all sterile products using aseptic technique.

Clean the wound

Gently cleanse the wound, taking care not to disturb the suture line.

Apply Urgo Start

Double-layer UrgoStart may be required to accommodate tissue loss from the crush injury; a single layer may be used if the wound bed is relatively flat.

Secure

Apply Hypafix to secure the dressing in place.

Oedema Aid

f required, tubular bandage may be used to assist with oedema management.
