Treatment Goals

Support the suture line and areas of eschar to promote secondary intention healing.

Aim of Dressing

To dry the suture line, reduce the risk of dehiscence, and stabilise the scabbed areas where dehiscence has occurred.

Frequency of Dressing Change

Everyday

Amputated fingers

Severe microvascular disease has led to previous amputations of several fingers and one lower limb.

 Swipe 
Step 1

Setup sterile field

Prepare the sterile dressing pack and aseptically transfer sterile items onto the sterile field.

Step 2

Clean the wound

Cleanse the wound carefully to prevent dislodgement of scabbed tissue and ensure the area is dried well.

Step 3

Paint with betadine

Paint the suture line and scabbed regions thoroughly, including the entire joint surface. May be repeated twice if necessary.

Cover and secure

Trim the Primapore to size, apply over the suture line, and secure using Hypafix.
