Treatment Goals

To achieve wound bed stabilisation in line with the agreed management plan or escalation for intervention.

Aim of Dressing

To provide antimicrobial protection during evaluation of arterial compromise and development of a definitive management plan. In patients unsuitable for surgery, long-term wound bed stabilisation may be appropriate.

Arterial Ulcer

The management of arterial ulcers is consistent irrespective of dressing goals. While iodine application may vary, the overall management strategy remains the same.

Prepare you sterile field

Prepare the sterile dressing pack and aseptically unpack sterile products onto the field.

Clean the wound bed

Perform thorough wound bed cleansing with removal of cellular debris.

Apply Inadine

Prepare Inadine by folding to size (half or quarter) to suit the wound dimensions and depth.

Secure

Secure with tape or tubular bandaging, applied loosely to avoid any compressive effect.
