Boil on right buttock

A young male patient did not appreciate the progression and severity of his boil prior to hospital presentation.

Step 1

Prepare you sterile field

Prepare a sterile field and arrange all sterile products using aseptic technique.

Clean the boil

Ensure the full extent of the boil is cleansed. Irrigation may be required if there is residual purulent material.

Probe

Gently probe the boil to determine the maximum depth of the wound.

Step 4

Pack

Using a probe, pack the boil with Aquacel Ag ensuring all wound cavities are filled to prevent residual spaces and reduce bacterial accumulation.

Secure

Apply Biatain Super Adhesive as the secondary dressing for secure fixation.
