To preserve skin integrity by not disrupting devitalised epithelial cells within areas of cellulitis, reducing the risk of infection and supporting systemic antibiotic therapy.

Aim of Dressing

To preserve skin integrity with a non-adhesive dressing during the course of intravenous antibiotic therapy.

This dressing is appropriate for minor skin breakdown without the presence of slough.

Step 1

Setup sterile field

Prepare a sterile field and arrange all sterile products using aseptic technique.

Clean the legs (Gently)

Gently cleanse the legs by dabbing, avoiding disruption of fragile epithelial cells.

Wrap the legs

Wrap the legs with Jelonet, including application over intact skin where appropriate.

Wrap the legs with Zetuvit, cotton bandage and crepe.
