Uses
• Wounds where biofilm is/has occurred.
• Wounds that have dry wound beds
• Areas where you need to pack a wound and leave intact for 1 – 3 days
Positives
• Removes and prevents the formation of biofilm and cellular debris
•Cleansing and moistursing of acute and chronic wounds
Limitations
• Can mascerate the periwound if allowed to sit onto surrounding skin.
• Requires the health professional to use 90% gel and 10% gauze to minimise sticking of the gauze when removed if the dressing is left intact for multiple days.
Precautions
• Requires silicone to be placed ONTOP of the gel and gauze to stop the wound being absorbed into the secondarty dressing
